Who is the King of Forest

Once upon a time, there was a forest. In the forest, various animals such as foxes, elephants, rabbits etc. used to live. There also lived a lion in a den. But, however none of the animals in the forest had ever seen the lion.

One day, the leader-fox was wandering around and saw the den of lion. He entered inside the den. While looking around, he saw the lion. Since he had never seen any lion before, he asked, "Who are you? What is your name?" The lion thought, 'I don't have any name, but I should tell him something that would make him happy. After-all there is nothing in the name.' The lion said, "I am the king of this forest. And my name is Clever Singh." The fox became happy hearing this and returned.

The fox went near his group and told all his followers foxes, "I have seen the king of forest. He is very clever and his name is Clever Singh." All foxes became happy hearing this. Next day, the leader of elephants met the lion. The elephant also asked him, "Who are you? What is your name?" The lion replied, "I am the king of this forest. My name is Mammoth Singh." The elephant became happy and went back happily. He also told all his followers of the group about the lion and his name.

Similarly, the leaders of various groups of animals such as rabbits, monkeys, snakes etc. met the lion and lion told all of them the names according to the qualities of those animals. Several years passed and all the leaders of different groups of animals died. Now, none of the animals were available who actually saw the lion. Everyone just had a belief that their leader was the only one who met the lion. They wrote books according to what their leader told them about their king. Few groups even made idols of the king according to the description of the books.

One day, a fox met a rabbit. The rabbit said, "Do you know about the king of forest? He is very fast and his name is Speed Singh." The fox became angry and said, "What non-sense you are talking. The name of the king of forest is Clever Singh." Now both of them started fighting with each other. An elephant also came and asked the reason of their fight. Fox and rabbit told the elephant about the reason. The elephant said, "Both of you are wrong. The name of the king is Mammoth Singh." Now, the elephant also started fighting.

Slowly, all the different groups of animals started fighting with each other on the name of the king of forest. Few animals became disillusioned with all this fighting and said, "There is no king of this forest. Had there been any king, then you all would have not fought among yourselves." The news of the fights of different groups reached near the lion too. The lion came and saw that all groups of animals were fighting with each other and many animals lost their lives too. The lion felt extremely sad and roared, "Are you all animals crazy? I am the king of this forest. I do not have any name, and all the names were given by me to each group according to the qualities they like."
