What is Value of Human Being

Saturday 31 May 2014

Once upon a time, a blacksmith's child asked his father, "Dear Father, what is the value of a human being in this world?" The blacksmith was amazed to hear such a serious question from his little child. After thinking a little, he said, "Dear son, it is very difficult to tell you the worth of a human being. Everyone is priceless." The son said, "Is it true for every human being?" The father nodded in agreement.

The son was still not convinced and questioned further, "Then why someone gets more respect than others? Why someone is poor and someone rich?" His father patiently listened and then asked his son to bring him a rod of iron from warehouse. After his son brought rod, he asked, "What would be the price of this rod?" His son replied, "About two hundred bucks." Then the blacksmith asked, "What if I make small iron nails from this?" His son said, "It would then cost around a thousand bucks." The blacksmith again asked, "What if I make many springs for expensive watches?" The boy replied with excitement, "It would then cost very much."

His father explained, "This is the way a human being should be valued. Every human being has his or her life which is just like a rod of iron. It depends on the person what he or she makes out of it. It depends on that person's individual effort. The key of success remains in his or her hands. Every human being is priceless with this priceless life and rest depends on that person only."
