Pigeons of Worship House

Sunday 21 February 2016

Few pigeons lived happily on the terrace of an ancient temple. During the time of annual festival of Diwali, renovation was organized for temple. Due to this, the pigeons had to leave temple and they went to a nearby church.

The pigeons of church welcomed them and they started living happily on the terrace of church. When Christmas festival came near, renovation activity for church also started. Now all the pigeons had to leave the church and they moved to a nearby mosque.

Pigeons living on the terrace of mosque welcomed them and now all of them started living happily. Soon the holy month of Islam (or Ramadan) started and all the pigeons moved back to the temple. One day, a pigeon saw that communal riots broke out between people following different religions. He asked his mother, "Who are they and why are they fighting?"

His mother replied, "Son, they are humans. They are fighting because they differentiate among themselves. The humans who go to temples are called Hindus, those who go to church are called Christians and those who go to mosque are called Muslims."

The little pigeon, still confused, said, "But why this is so? When we went to church, we were pigeons; when we moved to mosque, we were still pigeons; and while we returned to temple, we are still pigeons. Then why don't they see each other as humans irrespective of where they go."

The mother pigeon replied, "This is because we have experienced the truth and oneness of God, we do not differentiate one pigeon from another pigeon. This is the reason we live above these humans peacefully. These people are indifferent to this truth and have never experienced the oneness of God, due to which they live below us, differentiate among themselves and are killing each other."
