Tap of Water

Saturday 27 July 2019

A French named Lorence lived in Arabian peninsula. As he enjoyed living in the desert, he spent later half of his life living there. Many Arabian people became his friends. Once he thought to take his friends to France. All his friends became happy and readily accepted his invitation.

On reaching France, he took all his Arabian friends to show different exhibitions and museums. However, his friends did not seem to enjoy and every time insisted on returning to hotel. Lorence was puzzled as his friends were seemingly not enjoying travelling but were more happy inside hotel rooms. He decided to understand the reason behind such strange behaviour.

Next time when he took his friends back to hotel, he observed that they went to bathroom and opened taps and water showers. Lorence understood that they were enjoying to see such abundance of water as they had always lived in water scarce deserts.

After few days, the time came when they had to return to Arabian deserts. But Lorence found that none of his friends came out of their hotel rooms. On entering their room, he saw that his friends were trying to take taps from bathroom. Lorence asked about this incident. One of his friend said that he never saw such a beautiful thing which gives so much water and he wanted to take it with him, so that he never had to live in water scarcity.

Lorence explained, "Do you really think water is coming because of taps? Tap is just a medium to dispense water, but it is not the source of water. If you take this tap with you, it will do no good as source of water is not present in deserts in abundance."

Moral: Just like Lorence's friends, we all try to think that we can get happiness by wordly things but the source of happiness is not the thing but that source is within each of us. Without understanding that source, nothing in this world can make us happy.
