Alexander: Servant of The Servant

Alexander the great, while returning back from India, remembered that the people of his empire asked him to come with an Indian mystical yogi. He started searching for yogi. In the forests, he found one yogi sitting beneath a tree. He was sitting there meditating on the name of God. Alexander went near him and sat quietly.

The Dream of a Stone-Cutter

One stone-cutter used to live on a daily wage. He always used to feel dissatisfied with his job and life. He used to feel that he was not having the best life that he deserved and had a dream that may he somehow get the power of fulfilling his desire. He always used to pray wishing his dream may come true. One day he felt that he got the power of fulfilling any desire. That evening while returning back home, he saw a tradesman. The tradesman was having all luxuries. He had many servants and lots of money. The stone-cutter thought, 'My whole life will only be wasted by cutting these stones and accumulating pennies on daily basis. It would be great if I become a tradesman like him with all luxuries.' All of a sudden, he got what he wished for. He became a tradesman, got a new home, servants and all luxuries.

Reasoning of Chanakya: Three Tests

Chanakya was famous for his reasoning, diplomacy and knowledge. One day, an acquaintance of Chanakya came near him and said in excitement, "Do you know what I heard about your friend?" Chanakya asked the man, "Before I hear anything, it needs to qualify to be heard by triple tests of reasoning." The acquaintance was not aware of any such test and hence asked, "What kind of triple tests of reasoning?"

The Honey of Ignorance

Once there lived a saint in Rampur village of India. He used to deliver speeches for the welfare of humanity on a regular basis. One man, named Duvidhalal, heard about the saint and decided to attend his speech. The next day, he started travelling to Rampur village. But, by the time he reached the venue, it was very late. The speech was over and saint had left for his home. Duvidhalal searched for the home of saint. On reaching there, he requested the guard to allow him to meet the saint. The guard was hesitant to allow him to enter. However, the saint came out and asked Duvidhalal the reason to meet him. Duvidhalal said, "Respected saint, I have heard that you deliver speeches for the sake of humanity. I came here to get benefited by your speech. I always feel doubtful and depressed in my life. Nothing seems to be alright. I always feel myself surrounded with darkness. What should I do?" The saint said, "I can understand your pains. If you wish, then come to attend my speech tomorrow evening. I will answer your question there. Remember, I will begin at 4 PM tomorrow and the program will be for an hour."

The Medicine of Anger

Once there lived a saint in an ashram on Himalayas. He was very intelligent and knowledgeable. Due to this, he was very popular and people from distant places started coming to ask solutions of their problems. One day, a woman came near to him and said, "Respected Saint! My husband works in army. He used to love me a lot earlier. But, since he has returned from last battle, he gets very angry now and then, even without any reason. Because of this, I have also started getting a lot more angry than before. I have heard a lot about you. I have come with many hopes that you will provide some herbal medicines to control the anger."

The Balloons of Balloon Seller

Once, there lived a balloon seller. He used to sell balloons to children at various stalls to earn his livelihood. He used to keep balloons of various colors like red, blue, green etc. to attract children. Whenever he felt the sale is declining, he would let one balloon to fly in sky. Seeing the flying balloon, many children used to get attracted and start coming to buy balloons.

The Gift of Mirror

Once there lived a family of a husband and a wife in village. One day, a tourist came to their village. After visiting various places, he was very tired. He knocked at the door of the family. Both welcomed the tourist very nicely and allowed them to stay in their home till the time he was in the village. The tourist felt extremely thankful to the family for their kind behavior. He stayed in their house for three days. On the fourth day's early morning, he decided to move to new places. However, the couple was sleeping. So, he left without disturbing anyone. Before leaving, he left a note saying thank you to the family and a gift of mirror.

The sad devotee

Once, there lived a devotee, who had immense faith in God. He used to pray to God with full dedication. One day, God appeared in front of him and said, "My dear devotee, I am happy with your immense devotion and service. Tell me what do you want? I will fulfill your wish." The devotee, although had immense faith in God; but he believed God had only given him problems in his life. He always used to feel very sad at his destiny. Whenever he used to see other people and compared his life with them, he always felt the other one to be happier. Hence, he thought that today is his chance to ask the reason from God for making his life so miserable.

Worthless creatures

Once there lived a king in Varanasi. One day, he asked his cabinet of ministers, "Provide me the list of worthless creatures of my kingdom." All ministers started doing research and after one week told the king that wild bees and wild spiders were worthless creatures of the kingdom. The king said, "Then why are they living in my kingdom. Kill all wild bees and wild spiders."

Peace and prosperity

There was a gurukul (a form of school in ancient India) of a saint. The saint used to guide students to follow moral and ethical life, along-with providing the academic knowledge. One day, few students started debating over the topic of peace and prosperity. Few students claimed that for having peace, prosperity is a must; while few others denied any relation among the two. The students reached to the saint for the resolution. The saint listened carefully and then told a story to students for easily understanding the answer.
