Every Sunday morning while jogging, a boy used to see an old lady near a pond. The old lady used to sit on a bench and clean the back (shell) of little tortoises. After cleaning the shells, she used to put the tortoises back to the pond.

In a village, there lived a saint. Many people used to praise him for his knowledge and guidance. One day, a young boy came near to him. On the request of boy, the saint came to meet him. The boy said, "Respected Guru, I have come here with the hope of saving myself. Please help me from the griefs in my life, and remove all of them."

In between two villages named Ekpuri and Dopuri, there was a forest. In the forest, there lived a venomous snake. People of both the villages were very scared of the snake. The snake had bitten many villagers who used to cross the forest to reach the other village and many of them had lost their lives. Gradually, people stopped using the path through forest and a longer path was used for reaching the other village.

In a village named Dhartipuri, there lived a woman in a hut. She used to live a life of humiliation. The villagers used to believe that she was characterless, and hence she was not allowed to participate in any public gatherings. One day a saint came to village and invited everyone for his public discourse (satsang). The public gathered in a field to listen to his discourse. The woman also came to listen the discourse. But the villagers did not allow her to enter the field. She was insulted and sent back. The saint saw the behavior of the villagers and felt quite sad. The saint cancelled his discourse.

Once in a kingdom, there were riots between people following different religions. The king became extremely disappointed to know about this. He announced that he would not follow any religion. Only when some scholar of any religion could convince him that their religion is true, then only he would accept and follow that religion. After announcing this, he gave strict orders to his soldiers to kill anyone who they found involved in riots. Soon, the riots were controlled completely.

One person always used to attend the discourses of Gautam Buddha and listened to his speeches with great dedication. Buddha always used to encourage people to attain self-knowledge and be free from lust, attachment, anger, self-ego, hatred etc in his discourses. Once the person came to meet Gautam Buddha and said, "I have been continuously attending your discourses from many days. But, I am sorry to say that there has been no improvement in me. What is the reason behind it? Is there any shortcoming within me?"

King and the Sage

Once upon a time a brave king ruled in the northern part of India. He was also kind and a just king who revered intelligent humans. He would seek advice from the wise and rule his kingdom aptly. Once an old sage visited his palace as a guest. He asked the old guru to reveal the formula to survive the worst of the time, if it ever be-felled on him. The old sage wrote something on a piece of paper, folded and sealed it. Handing over, he said, "keep this very close to you at all times. Only when you face a situation that is beyond you or when nothing else works and all is lost, then only open this and follow the formula." After saying this, the sage left for his journey.

The True Wish

Once there lived a small boy. He heard from his grandmother that God always hears the true prayers that are done from heart. Since the boy was quite innocent, he accepted it to be true without any doubt in his mind. The boy closed his eyes and prayed, "Oh God, I have a wish. Please fulfill my wish." Suddenly, a voice was heard within himself, "Dear child, you have remembered me without any doubt. I am happy with your prayer. What is your wish?" The boy became happy. He said to himself, "Oh God, please help me in completing my homework. Please make me extremely intelligent and help me to become topper of school." The inner voice said, "Is this the only wish you desired for?" The boy replied, "Yes, I think it will be enough for me." The inner voice blessed him and he became extremely intelligent. He also became topper of the school.
