Once there lived an ant on the hill of salt (Ant-1). She was very happy as she had enough salt for all her life. One day, another ant (Ant-2) who used to live on the hill of sugar arrived as a guest. Ant-1 greeted her and served her few salt granules. Ant-2 happily took it. Both of them then started talking on various subjects. While talking, Ant-1 asked Ant-2, "So what do you eat?" Ant-2 replied, "I live on the sugar-hill. Whenever I feel hungry, I eat it and it tastes very good." Hearing this, Ant-1 asked how does it taste like and if it is similar to the taste of salt. Ant-2 said, "It tastes sweet and it does not taste like salt. If you want, I can take you there and you can taste it on your own as I am not having words to describe it. It can only be experienced." Ant-1 agreed to the invitation and both ants started getting ready for their journey to sugar-hill.
While Ant-1 was getting ready, she started thinking, 'What if it does not taste good? How it will taste like? Why does not the other ant explain how it would taste?' These doubts started becoming stronger in her mind. The Ant-1 then took some salt along with herself (just in case if sugar does not taste good to her!). While they started their journey towards the sugar hill, Ant-1 asked, "Will it taste good? What if I do not like its taste?" Ant-2 said, "Yes, it tastes good. Just do not assume anything before tasting it, else you might not enjoy the taste completely." But Ant-1 still remained very doubtful. When both the ants reached near the sugar-hill, Ant-2 said, "Here is my place where I live. Now you can taste the sugar on your own and tell me if you liked it or not!!" Now Ant-1 had serious doubts regarding the taste of sugar. Ant-1 then took out salt and kept it on her tongue so that she may not have to taste sugar if it is bad. Ant-2 took a crystal of sugar and gave it to Ant-1. Ant-1 took the sugar inside her mouth. However, she was already having mouthful of salt that covered her entire tongue. She then became surprised and said to Ant-2, "This tastes exactly like my salt and you said it tasted different!!"
Ant-2 asked Ant-1 to open her mouth. She saw the mouth of Ant-1 was already full of salt. Seeing this, she said to Ant-1, "This way if you will keep your mind full of doubts and mouth full of salt, you can never experience the taste of sugar. You will need to hold the heart of an innocent child without any doubt in mind to experience new things in life. Take the salt out of your mouth and then taste the sugar." Ant-1 felt a bit ashamed of herself and she spat all the salt out of her mouth. Then she took the sugar and it tasted as it should. Ant-1 then said sorry and agreed that the sugar tasted very good and sweet to her, and she understood its taste properly.
