There lived a group of owls in a forest. Among them, there was a baby owl who was fond of exploring new things. He used to fly to distant lands quite often in search of new and exciting places. His parents were quite worried of the baby owl's habit of flying to distant places. Many times they instructed and even at times scolded the baby owl to refrain from flying to distant places. Once there lived an iron merchant. He used to trade through import and export of raw iron and finished goods. On a lovely morning, a sage knocked at door of his house. The merchant happily welcomed him and provided him tasty delicacies to eat. The sage got impressed with such a courteous behaviour. While leaving, the sage said, "I am very happy with your courteous behaviour and respect you have shown to me. I want to give a souvenir in return. You can use it as you wish but I will come back after a month and will take back my souvenir." Saying this, he took out an elixir stone (generally believed to turn iron to gold) and handed over to the merchant.

The Most Important Finger

All five fingers of a hand started debating. Each of them thought that only it was the most important finger of hand. They were trying to prove their worth and show their importance. The thumb said, "I am most important. Without me none other fingers can do anything worthy." The finger next to it disagreed and said that it was most important; and the debate continued with every finger disagreeing to other fingers' comments and giving own justifications.

The Beggar: Lion or Fox

A beggar was collecting wooden logs from a forest for cooking his food. Suddenly, he saw something amazing. A fox was lying at some distance who had lost all his limbs. The beggar thought, 'This is so strange. How has he managed to survive in such a condition!! Besides, he seems to be completely healthy.' He was lost in his thoughts when a lion started coming near to fox. Coming back to his senses, the beggar quickly climbed on a high branch of a tree. The lion had hunted down a deer and was carrying it in his jaws. He went closer to the fox. Instead of attacking, the lion offered a piece of deer's meat to the fox.

The Mother Cow

There was a kingdom named Mayapur in India. It was famous that the chief minister named Hoshiyar Singh of that kingdom was very clever. People from far across lands came to seek solution to their problems. Once a farmer named Tukaram came in the court. He had two cows with him. On entering the royal courtyard, he presented his problem to the minister. He said, "Respected royal minister, I have this problem that I have two cows with me. But it is not known that who is the mother and who is the daughter among them."

Once upon a time, there lived a rich man. He was unusually fond of keeping reptiles in his home. He had kept many reptiles such as crocodiles, alligators, snakes etc. in his swimming pool. When her daughter attained the marriageable age, he decided to give a grand party and invited many people. Many people came to the party.

There was a village where a lot of monkeys used to live. A man came to the village and saw that the villagers were quite annoyed with the monkeys. He thought of an idea. He announced that for each monkey given to him, he would reward the villagers with ten bucks. Since the villagers were quite fed up with the monkeys, they immediately accepted the offer and started catching the monkeys.

The frog who would reach to the top first would be declared as winner and would be rewarded.

A tourist visited house of a farmer. At night, they started discussing various things about the places the tourist had visited earlier. While they were discussing, the tourist said, "Why are you wasting your time doing such small-scale farming. In Siberia, I saw that the land is so cheap that people just sell it for almost no money. It will be better for you if you sell this small farm and go to Siberia. You will get many acres of land and you will live happily."

Long time ago, there lived a boy in a village. He used to get angry for every little thing. In anger, he used to shout at other people for almost no reason. Disappointed with this attitude, his father called him one day and gave him a bag full of nails. Then he said to his son, "Whenever you get angry at anything, just take one nail out of this bag and pierce it in the trunk of the tree outside our home."

The Leaf of a Rose Tree

In a forest, there was a pond. Near the pond, there was a garden having different varieties of plants and trees. Tourists from various places used to visit the garden. They used to praise the garden for its beauty. A leaf on one of the rose trees daily used to see the tourists praising the beauty of roses on the tree. He thought that maybe some tourist would praise him also. Many days passed, but the tourists only used to praise the beauty of flowers. When nobody praised the leaf even after so many days, he started feeling himself in destitution. Many thoughts started coming all over his mind, "All these people are praising the roses and all other flowers but none of them ever appreciated me. Maybe my life is useless. I am nothing in front of these beautiful flowers...." Thinking all these things, he started remaining extremely sad.
