Three Advises to Draupadi

Sunday 29 April 2018

Once Draupadi (the daughter of king Drupad) was sitting in her room when she came to know that one sage had come to meet her. She humbly welcomed the sage and greeted him. The sage was none other than Veda vyas. Draupadi gave some sweets to him and asked if he could kindly guide her for problems she might face in future. Veda vyas smiled on listening her request and replied, "O daughter of king Drupad, because of you, a very fierce battle would be fought and millions will die as a consequence."

Draupadi got terrified listening this. She pleaded, "Respected great soul, I do not want such a battle. Please advise me how I can avoid it." Veda vyas answered, "There are three ways. But they are very difficult to follow. If you so insist, I will give you those three advises. If you are able to follow even one of them, then this battle can be avoided."

"The first advise is never insult and hurt anyone's feelings. If you ever do this, then that would sow the seeds of that great battle."

"My second advise is if someone insults you, then do not get angry. By becoming angry, you would ensure the battle's certainty."

"If you miss from following any of these two advises, then there is only last thing that you can do is to not take revenge of your insult. However, that will be hardest thing for you to accomplish and that will cause the battle to take shape."
