There lived a man named Balvant in a small town. He worked as a pharmacist, and owned a medical store as well. He was quite greedy by nature. There is a very good profit margin in the sales of medicines. In order to earn huge profit, Balvant used to sell all medicines on the retail price. As there was no other medical shop in his area, there was no competition as well.
By selling medicines, he earned so much money, that he opened another medical store, bought two plots and also opened a clinical laboratory. One day, a very old man came on his shop and handed him a prescription. Balvant took all medicines and prepared the bill of 500 bucks. The old man became worried seeing the bill. He took out his wallet and started counting the money. However, he had only 205 bucks. Balvant became quite annoyed seeing it. The old man requested if he could give him those medicines as they were vital for his old wife, and promised that he would pay the balance amount soon. Although those medicines costed him just 140 bucks and he could have still sold them with profit to the old man, but due to his greedy nature, he declined to provide medicines to the old man. Downhearted, the old man returned.
After sometime, Balvant became father of a baby boy. He was extremely happy and distributed sweets to everyone in his town. After around five years, the health of his son started deteriorating. On medical examination, it was diagnosed that his son had brain tumor. Doctors suggested for an immediate surgery. It was an expensive surgery, hence Balvant had to sell plots for arranging money required for surgery. However, the surgery was not completely successful, and the condition of his son deteriorated. For many days, his son was kept in ICU and several brain surgeries had to be done. In order to cover the cost, Balvant had to sell his stores, laboratory and everything else he had bought. But even after trying a lot, the condition of his son kept on getting worse. The doctors advised that his son would not survive as there had been many complications and suggested Balvant to take his son to home and provide him the love and care in the last days of his life.
With a heavy heart, Balvant came back with his son. After few days, his son was counting his last breathes. Balvant rushed near to his son and held his hand. His son looked at him and said, "Respected father, do not get disheartened by my death. I only came to destroy all the money you accumulated by selling medicines to poor people. If you remember, few years ago, an old poor man came to buy medicines for his wife, and you declined giving him medicines because there was less profit by selling medicines to him. The wife of that old man died because of no medical care provided in time. The old man also died due to the heart attack." Balvant was shocked seeing his son saying all this. He asked, "How do you know all this?" His son replied, "Respected father, as all the evil wealth you accumulated is destroyed, I am now also dying. Please start earning honestly from now onward. And I knew all this because I am that old man. I was reborn in your home only for this purpose." After saying this, his son closed his eyes and died.
